We have partnered with Author, Entrepreneur, Activist, and Obama White House Chef / Advisor Sam Kass to launches a Lunch Box Series to support the groundbreaking work of nonprofit organization No Kid Hungry.  The Lunch Box Series is curated by Sam Kass, and is inspired by the lunch boxes at Sally Bell’s Kitchen, a Richmond, Virginia establishment since the 1920’s, famous for its lunch boxes and long lines of loyal customers.

Each month, Sam Kass will collaborate with a different chef or restaurant, on custom lunch boxes that benefit No Kid Hungry. “Promoting healthy food for youth and combating child hunger is a personal mission of mine and a challenge we all have a responsibility to help solve,” says Sam Kass, “being able to partner with the Smile team to benefit No Kid Hungry is a way to help make a real difference.”

Lunch boxes will be available exclusively at our Dumbo location in the Shinola store at Empire Stores in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Executive Chef Melia Marden and Smile To Go’s newest addition to their team, pastry chef Shuna Lydon will collaborate with Kass on the first box of the series.

Ten percent of each sale will benefit No Kid Hungry. “We are honored to partner with Smile To Go and Sam Kass”, says Debbie Shore, Co-founder of Share Our Strength, the organization behind the No Kid Hungry campaign. “1 in 6 kids in the US lives with hunger, and because of partnerships like this, we are able to advance our campaign to end childhood hunger.”Smile To Go will also launch a loyalty program for the series that gives a FEED tote bag to customers who purchase ten lunch boxes over the course of the initiative. Each tote bag provides ten meals to children. FEED is a giving partner of No Kid Hungry and has a brick and mortar coffee shop located in Empire Stores near Smile To Go.
